Abstract
The uptake and metabolism of proline by Anabaena 7120 is demonstrated. Uptake is linear over the first hour and it appears that the rate of proline oxidation is sufficient to account for growth is suggested by the finding that exogenous proline represses heterocyst differentiation and inhibits nitrogen fixation in Anabaena 7120, without affecting growth rate.Entities:
