Abstract
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is the most common cause of hepatocellular carcinoma in China. Epidemiological surveys show that male have a much higher incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma than female. Studies have shown that estrogen and its receptors are associated to gender disparity in hepatocellular carcinoma, but the underlying molecular mechanisms has not yet been fully elucidated. This article reviews the possible mechanisms of estrogen and its receptors in the occurrence and progression of hepatitis B virus-related hepatocellular carcinoma.Entities:
