Abstract

2-Amino-3-methylimidazo[4,5-f]quinoline (IQ), which is mutagenic and carcinogenic, was found to be present in cigarette smoke condensate by liquid chromatography with an electrochemical detector and a photodiode-array detector. The amount of IQ was estimated to be 0.26 ng per cigarette.
