Abstract
The knee dislocation is a severe, complex injury that can be difficult to treat and is fraught with complications. The first step in a successful reconstruction of a multiple ligamentous knee injury is gaining an accurate and thorough understanding of the pattern of instability imparted by the injury. Evaluation begins with a detailed review of radiographic and advanced imaging studies followed by a thorough physical examination, often done under anesthesia, in conjunction with dynamic fluoroscopy. Failure to identify and reconstruct a damaged ligament may place undue stress on adjacent structures, resulting in complications and potential failure of the surgical procedure. CrownEntities:
