New Emerging Modalities to Treat Post-Thoracotomy Pain Syndrome: A Review.

Brad Kelsheimer1, Campbell Williams1, Chris Kelsheimer1.

Abstract

Pain relief during and after thoracic surgery continues to be a challenging issue for anesthesiologists caring for these patients. A comprehensive approach to pain management, combined with newer approaches to peripheral nerve blockade, may improve perioperative patient care and lessen the significant risk of the post thoracotomy pain syndrome.
