Abstract
BACKGROUND: Filter clotting is frequent during continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), which increases anemia risk. We studied anemia and blood transfusion in critically ill patients requiring CRRT for acute kidney injury and assessed the relationship between CRRT filter life span and PRBC transfusion.Entities:

Characteristics of all patients enrolled in the study, where cases were patients who required continuous renal replacement therapy in the intensive care unit and controls were critically ill patients who did receive renal replacement therapy. Cases and controls were matched for age, gender, APACHE II score, and admission category.
