Abstract
Alessandro Bonvicino (c. 1498-1554), commonly known as Il Moretto da Brescia, was an Italian Renaissance painter. In his "The Adoration of Shepherds" (1539-1540), a shepherd shows a bi-lobar goiter. The painter was active in a geographical area, where inhabitants often suffered from endemic goiter due to dietary iodine deficiency and could have influenced Moretto.Entities:
