Figure 1Pathogen-oriented prevention and control of nosocomial infections strategy. Pathogens that lead to infection in ICU mainly come from body, environment, air, and throat (BEAT). Pathogens from other sources are aberrant. Regardless of what pathogens are involved, hand hygiene is the most important process in the prevention and control of nosocomial infections. Therefore, we named this strategy as BEAT-Hands, which means washing hands in the proper way and the right time.
