Abstract
Approximately 40,000 infants weighing less than 1500 grams are born in the United States each year. Caring for these infants after their discharge from the newborn intensive care unit is complex and difficult. The survival, growth, routine health care maintenance, neurologic and developmental outcome and assessment, and long-term medical complications are reviewed.Entities:
