Abstract
During the establishment of root-nodule symbioses between plants and nitrogen-fixing rhizobia, nodule organogenesis in the inner cortex needs to be precisely coordinated with the rhizobial infection site at the root epidermis. A new study shows that rhizobia induce localized callose turnover at plasmodesmata to allow spatiotemporal synchronization of the two processes through symplastic connections.Entities:
