Hypersensitivity reactions to etoposide. A case report and review of the literature.

K M Ogle1, B J Kennedy.

Abstract

A case of immediate hypersensitivity to the chemotherapeutic agent etoposide is reported. The clinical details of the case and features of previously reported cases are outlined. An attempt to re-treat the patient with etoposide was unsuccessful despite vigorous premedication, in contrast to previous reports. The mechanism of hypersensitivity to this agent is still to be elucidated.
