Abstract

The present study attempted to explore the moderating effect of depression on the association between posttraumatic growth (PTG) and quality of life (QoL) in low-grade glioma patients in China. A prospective study design was conducted. Patients completed the survey approximately 1 month and 1 year after surgery. A hierarchical linear model was used to examine the linear and the quadratic relationships between PTG and QoL. The interaction term of PTG and depression was included in the model to explore the moderating effect of depression. A quadratic relationship was found between PTG and QoL in the patients who had significant depressive symptoms. A linear relationship between PTG and QoL was found in the patients without significant depressive symptoms. In conclusion, PTG improved the patients' quality of life to some extent. The relationship between PTG and QoL in LGG patients depends on the level of depression.
