Sir, I read “Sahadev R, Jadhav V, Munianjanappa NB, Shankar G. Penile dislocation with inversion: A rare complication of blunt pelvic injury. J Indian Assoc Pediatr Surg 2018;23:90-2.[1] with interest. I remembered reporting two similar cases in the year 2004;[2] we had used the term “snapped-in-penis” to describe the condition. Although the traumatic degloving and/or partial/complete amputation of penis is all well known, penile dislocation is a rare entity. All the reported authentic cases of penile dislocation due to blunt trauma that did not find a place in the case report by Sahadev et al.[1] have been tabulated in Table 1.[2345] It is evident that the penile dislocation is extremely rare in the pediatric age group with only four reported cases; the patient reported by Simonis et al.[4] had the injury at the age of 6 years. The penis has been reported having been displaced into the scrotum, groin, or in front of the pubis in most of the cases, though in one of our patients, it was displaced behind the pubic symphysis. It is interesting that some patients sought surgery after many years of the penile dislocation. The schematic representation of mechanism of injury provided by Sahadev et al.[1] is laudable.
