Abstract
INTRODUCTION: The prevalence of obesity among children and adolescents in the United States is high. The aim of this study was to assess the association between modifiable risk factors and obesity and to estimate the population attributable fractions (PAFs) of modifiable risk factors among high school students in the United States.Entities:

Percentages are based on weighted data to represent all students in grades 9 through 12 attending public and private schools in the United States. Source: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (18).
Sum of categories in each variable does not always add up to a total sample size of 15,624 because of missing values.
P values were calculated by using χ2 tests.
Other race included American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, and multiple races.
During the 7 days before the survey.
Defined as at least 1 drink of alcohol on at least 1 day during the 30 days before the survey.
Defined as use on at least 1 day during the 30 days before the survey.
