Abstract
Extravasation of intravenous contrast agents in the hand and forearm during computed tomography scanning is rising with the use of automated pressure injectors. The main concern in such a situation is progression to acute compartment syndrome and necrosis of the overlying skin. Management has been mainly nonsurgical comprising upper limb elevation and orthosis, with surgical techniques such as liposuction and saline evacuation mainly used for large volume (>50 mL) extravasations. We have developed a technique of multiple stab incisions and drainage for the treatment of contrast extravasations.Entities:
