Abstract
Structural valve deterioration is a well-studied phenomenon in bioprosthetic heart valves. Conversely, structural valve deterioration after transcatheter aortic valve implantation is not as well-elucidated. Therefore, late surgical explantation after transcatheter aortic valve implantation is an infrequent procedure, and thus, surgical findings and management of such cases remain unclear, particularly in patients previously labelled as 'inoperable' or at 'high risk'. Herein, we report the case of a late surgical explantation of a transcatheter heart valve (THV) 7 years after its implantation in a patient with a porcelain aorta and periprosthetic regurgitation.Entities:
