Abstract
The human parvovirus (HPV) is responsible for aplastic crises in patients with chronic haemolytic anaemia. We describe the cases of four children with aplastic crises in various types of thalassaemia (alpha and beta thalassaemias, major and intermediate forms). In all four patients, specific anti-human parvovirus IgM was detected in their serum, thereby indicating recent infection.Entities:
