Abstract
Background: Predicting the progression of cognitive decline in Alzheimer's disease (AD) is important for treatment selection and patient counseling. Structural MRI markers such as hippocampus or basal forebrain volumes might represent useful instruments for the prediction of cognitive decline. The primary objective was to determine the predictive value of hippocampus and basal forebrain volumes for global and domain specific cognitive decline in AD dementia during cholinergic treatment.Entities:

Reported are the main effect of time and volume and the interaction effects of volume by time. All models were controlled for age, sex, and total intracranial volume.
Data are given as: t-values (t); number of degrees of freedom (df); p-value (p).
Please note: the sign of the t-value gives the direction of the effect, i.e., a positive t-value indicates that test scores were higher with higher volume and vice versa.

BF, basal forebrain.
