Silicone-implant replacement arthroplasty in fractures of the radial head. A follow-up report.

B Martinelli.

Abstract

A follow-up of the results of silicone replacement arthroplasty in radial head fractures in 51 patients after 3-11 years is presented. Although the clinical picture remained unchanged, radiographs revealed varying degrees of wear on the implants, down to complete fragmentation. The author concludes that silicone implants are well tolerated but not sufficiently resistant to wear.
