Abstract
INTRODUCTION: Older small breed dogs are considered at risk for heart failure secondary to chronic mitral valve disease. However, few data are available on the onset of this disease in such dogs. This study was performed to determine if auscultation alone can be used to eliminate clinically relevant mitral valve regurgitation seen in echocardiography in Dachshund dogs.Entities:

P = 0.1 – a significant difference in the incidence of regurgitation between dogs in the <5 year and >5 <10 year age groups
P < 0.0 – a significant difference in the incidence of regurgitation between dogs in the <5 year and >10 year age groups
P = 0.042 – a significant difference in the incidence of regurgitation between dogs in the >5 <10 and >10 year age groups n – number of dogs
