Abstract
Background: Many studies have reported the comorbidity of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression in children. However, the underlying relationship between PTSD and depression remains unclear. Objective: This study examines the relationship between PTSD and depressive symptoms in children who survived the Wenchuan earthquake in China.Entities:
Keywords: PTSD; cross-lagged analysis; depressive symptoms; longitudinal study; natural disaster; • Future studies could collect larger samples and could distinguish between females and males and between different ages of children.; • Our study suggests that females with a high degree of trauma exposure and poor parental relationship are the most important group that requires intervention.; • The object of children’s posttraumatic therapy could be the entire family rather than only the children.; • The results showed a changed relationship between PTSD and depressive symptoms.
