Abstract
Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy (SG) are fairly similar in terms of their long-term effects on excess body weight, cardiometabolic risk factors, and quality of life. However, SG appears to be a safer procedure with distinct metabolic advantages, which can be even better than gastric bypass in some aspects. Keywords: bariatric; diabetes; gastric bypass; metabolic; sleeve gastrectomy
