Abstract
BACKGROUND: HIV is a neurotropic virus, and it can bring about neurodegeneration and may even result in cognitive impairments. The precise mechanism of HIV-associated white matter (WM) injury is unknown. The effects of multiple clinical contributors on WM impairments and the relationship between the WM alterations and cognitive performance merit further investigation.Entities:

Fig. 3Regression coefficients and significance for white matter alterations and cognitive performance. Verbal fluency scores were negatively correlated with AD values in the left ACR, ALIC and right SCR. Attention/working memory scores were positively correlated with AD values in the left ALIC and right SCR. Memory (learning and delayed recall) test scores were negatively correlated with MD values in the GCC, ACR (bilateral) and SCR (right). A positive correlation was observed between speed of information processing scores and MD values in the GCC, ACR (bilateral) and SCR (right), AD values in the GCC, ALIC (bilateral) and PTR (left). Fine motor scores were negatively correlated with MD values in the GCC, ACR (right) and SCR (right), AD values in the SCR (right)
