Abstract
Uterine arteriovenous fistula (AVF) is a rare, but potentially life-threatening condition. Acquired fistulae may occur as a result of trauma or instrumentation, endometrial carcinoma, gestational trophoblastic disease, and intrauterine devices (IUDs). Herein the authors present the case of a 33-year-old woman with a uterine AVF developing after uterine perforation during the placement of a levonorgestrel IUD. The fistula was diagnosed using color Doppler ultrasonography and angiography and the treatment was conducted by minimally invasive approach using uterine artery embolization.Entities:
