Abstract

Photoinduced cleavage of the residual N-N bond in the dimetallahydrazone 1 (Mes=2,4,6-Me3 C6 H2 ) led to a transient monomeric nitrido complex, which reacts further with 1 to form 2. Compound 1 was synthesized by the reductive arylation of MoCl4DME by MesMgBr under an N2 atmosphere.
