Abstract
Patients frequently come to the emergency department for pain. For decades, ketamine has been used in the emergency department for procedural sedation but is now receiving attention as a potential alternative to opioids because of its unique analgesic effects. Additionally, ketamine's dissociative properties have made it a popular choice for sedating profoundly agitated patients. In this narrative review, these new roles for ketamine in the emergency department are discussed.Entities:
