Abstract
Differentiated thyroid cancers (DTC) are seen with increasing incidence in clinical practice. These tumours have good prognosis and the extent of surgery can be tailored to the size and pathological characteristics of the lesion. Historically total thyroidectomy was the recommended procedure for tumours >1 cm; however, current recommendations suggest a more conservative approach. This review focuses on the evolution of the extent of surgery in differentiated thyroid cancer.Entities:
