Abstract
The issues of classification, pathogenesis, pathomorphology and treatment of diabetic polyneuropathy (DPN) are addressed. Pathogenetic mechanisms of the action of alpha-lipoic acid in treatment of DPN are justified. The authors present the results of randomized placebo-controlled trials of alpha-lipoic acid that revealed the high clinical efficacy and absence of side-effects even during the long-term treatment.Entities:
