Sir,A rare association of pili multigemini and rolled hair was published in the International Journal of Trichology, Jan-Mar 2016/Vol-8, Issue-1 authored by Nair et al., from the Department of Dermatology, Pramukhswami Medical College, Karamsad, Gujarat, India.[1]As we were going through the article, it came to our notice that the title of the article doesn't seem not be proper. In fact it should be “A Rare Association of Pili Multigemini and Circle Hairs in a Young Female, rather than rolled hairs.”Most important differential diagnosis of circle hairs (CHs) includes “rolled hairs”, which are not perfectly circular and can appear as irregularly coiled within a hyperkeratotic papule and other signs of inflammation. It can be with abnormalities of keratinization, such as atopic dermatitis, ichthyosis and palmoplantar keratoderma.[2] In this case report, an 18-year-old female presented with multiple asymptomatic hyperpigmented lesions over body for 2 months. There was no similar complaint in the past or in the family. There was no history of waxing, application of topical medications or cosmetics, trauma or any oral steroids. No features suggestive of atopic dermatitis were seen. The patient was averagely built and did not have a sedentary lifestyle. There were no signs of inflammation. These all features were suggestive of CHs not rolled hair. Hence, we suggest that the title of the case report should be changed to “A Rare Association of Pili Multigemini and Circle Hairs in a Young Female.”
