The History of the Coal Mining Industry and Mining Accidents in the World and Turkey.

Three per thousand of the world's coal reserves and 2% of lignite reserves exist in Turkey. Coal mining is the highest ranking industry for accidents and deaths per capita. For this reason, continuous monitoring and more attention should be gıven to the mining industry. In this review, the basic statistical data related to Turkey's mining and mining disasters are summarized.
