Abstract
The aim of this narrative review is to evaluate the incidence of seizures after adult cardiac surgery or cardiac interventions, to describe risk factors, and to provide suggestions regarding diagnostic measures and proper management. Based on published peer-reviewed articles, the authors demonstrate specific procedure-related risks for seizures. Early diagnosis, the identification of underlying causes, and avoidance of amenable risk factors are crucial to reduce associated long-term morbidity and mortality. Methods of early recognition of seizures, particularly focusing on the initiation of appropriate diagnostic measures, their management, and their timely treatment, are presented in the article.Entities:
