Abstract
BACKGROUND: Little is known about the metabolic factors associated with the health-related quality of life (HRQOL) among obese youths. The aim of this study is to assess metabolic correlates of HRQOL in a clinical sample of Taiwanese overweight and obese (OW/OB) adolescents.Entities:

PedsQL represents the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory 4.0, S.D. standard deviation
a18 overweight/obese children did not have cardiometabolic risk factor
bEffect size using Cohen’s d: difference of two samples divided by pooled standard deviation. Effect size between 0.5 and 0.8 indicates moderate effect
cMann-Whitney U test was applied because the PedsQL scores in the social domain were not normally distributed in the normal weight group

Model 1 included only BMI z-score and age in the analysis. Model 2 added metabolic factors with stepwise methods in the analysis. Model 3 added metabolic and lifestyle factors with stepwise methods in the analysis
Model 4 further included three interaction terms between BMI z-score and ALT, HDL cholesterol and moderate-to-vigorous PA with stepwise methods in the analysis
