Abstract
Bladder emptying function has been initially evaluated by uroflowmetry and post void residual urine measurement. Post void residual urine volume was commonly measured by a transurethral catheter which was not desirable to some patients. In the present study 7 patents with a complaint of dysuria were subjected to combined uroflowmetry and detection of post void residual urine using sector transabdominal ultrasound scanning. The volume estimation with assumption of bladder as an ellipsoid was not so accurate, nevertheless detection of post void residual urine itself was possible in all cases. Thus, the combined method appears to be very useful for evaluating bladder emptying function.Entities:
