Admissions to the surgical unit included: reconstructive orthopedics; eye, nose & throat; otolaryngology, head & neck; gynecology; dentistry; urology; general surgery; ophthalmology and oral-maxillofacial surgery.
P-values from chi-square tests or Fisher exact test (when the expected number was < 5) for categorical variables, and Mann–Whitney U-test for continuous variables.
