Congenital retinal macrovessels.

A 26-year-old man presented for a routine examination. His visual acuity and anterior segments were normal in both eyes. Fundus examination of the right eye showed a large arteriole and venule arising from the main vascular trunk at the disc and crossing the macula [Fig. 1a]. Fluorescein angiography showed dilatation of the capillary bed around these vessels with sparing of the foveal avascular zone [Fig. 1b].

Congenital macrovessel is a rare vascular malformation which is usually unilateral and asymptomatic.[1] Rare complications include macular hemorrhage, macular edema, macular ischemia, branch retinal artery occlusion, and angioscotoma.[234] There have been associations with cerebrovascular anomalies.[4]
