Abstract
Transcatheter aortic valve replacement has become an accepted alternative to surgery for patients with severe, symptomatic aortic stenosis who are inoperable or are at high surgical risk. Recent trials support the use of transcatheter aortic valve replacement also in patients at intermediate risk, and ongoing trials are assessing appropriateness in other patient groups. The authors review the key anatomic features integral to the transcatheter aortic valve replacement procedure and the echocardiographic imaging required for preprocedural, intraprocedural, and postprocedural assessment.Entities:
