Spontaneous dissection of the vertebral artery: MR findings.

J L Chen1, R Smith, A Keller, W Kucharczyk.

Abstract

Spontaneous (nontraumatic) dissection of the carotid and vertebral arteries, once thought to be rare, is being recognized and reported more frequently. We report one case of spontaneous dissection of the vertebral artery initially diagnosed by magnetic resonance imaging and subsequently confirmed by angiography.
