Abstract
National Ambulatory Medical Care Survey data were used to assess outpatient macrolide prescribing and selection. Conditions for which macrolides are firstline therapy represented 5% of macrolide prescribing. Family practitioners selected macrolides for children more frequently than pediatricians.
