Abstract
Group G beta-haemolytic streptococci were isolated from two patients, one with life-threatening septicaemia and meningitis, the other with puerperal sepsis and endometritis. The bacteria were isolated by blood culture and from cerebrospinal fluid in one patient, and from cervical swabs and urine in the other. In both treatment with a cephalosporin followed by penicillin G promptly led to recovery. These cases may signal an increasing incidence of severe infections caused by group G beta-haemolytic streptococci.Entities:
