Figure 1Renal LAM composed of smooth muscle, fat, and thick-walled blood vessels (a; H&E staining, original magnification, ×100); and the cells showed a positive reaction for HMB-45 antigen (b; EnVision staining, original magnification, ×200). Pulmonary LAM: Haphazard proliferation of smooth muscle cells arranged in fascicular, trabecular, and papillary patterns around a ramifying network of endothelium-lined spaces (c; H&E staining, original magnification, ×200); and the cells showed a positive reaction for smooth muscle actin antigen (d; EnVision staining, original magnification, ×200). Chest computed tomography revealed a pneumothorax and a honeycomb pattern throughout the lung parenchyma bilaterally, which were the lesions of pulmonary LAM (e), and abdomen computed tomography showed hepatic AML in the left lobe of liver (f), and multiple left renal AML (g). LAM: Lymphangiomyomatosis; AML: Angiomyolipoma.
