Abstract
A patient with celiac sprue was found to have an asymptomatic pneumoperitoneum. Prompt recognition that the pneumoperitoneum was due to pneumatosis cystoides intestinalis prevented unnecessary surgical intervention. Severe mucosal disease of the small intestine can be associated with an asymptomatic pneumoperitoneum.Entities:
