Abstract
Continuous processing of pharmaceuticals opens opportunities for continuous separation based on wettability of polymer membranes. Dual use of hydrophobic and hydrophilic membranes realize in-line liquid-liquid extraction in the synthesis of four essential APIs. A secondary membrane with opposite wetting characteristics proves critical to phase separation of aqueous-organic reaction streams.Entities:
