Abstract
CONTEXT: There are contradictory results on the effect of hyperthyroidism on hemostasis. Inadequate population-based studies limited their clinical implications, mainly on the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE). The present review focuses on hemostatic changes in overt and subclinical hyperthyroidism.Entities:

Abbreviations: ADP = adenosine diphosphate; Ag = antigen; :C = activity; F = factor; IL = interleukin; PAI-1 = plasminogen activator inhibitor 1; sVCAM-1 = soluble vascular cell adhesion molcule-1; vW= von Willebrand.
aElevation antithrombin has been considered as a change in favor of a prothrombotic effect (18, 63).
