Simplified hepatectomy: the tourniquet method.

A K Li1, S D Mok.

Abstract

A method to control bleeding from the transected liver parenchyma during hepatectomy is described. The merits of this tourniquet method are its simplicity and versatility. It is inexpensive, can be applied rapidly and performed readily. Hepatic transection, particularly in a cirrhotic liver, can be effected with a substantial reduction in blood loss.
