Figure 1Body temperature (Tb) and ambient temperature (Ta) fluctuations in the free-ranging marsupial Antechinus stuartii in the late Austral fall before and after a controlled forest fire. Access during the fire for data collection was not permitted. Note the substantial increase of the Tb fluctuations and prolonged duration of torpor bouts after the fire although Ta increased somewhat during that time in comparison to before the fire (data from Stawski et al., 2015). The horizontal dashed line is the torpor threshold.
