Abstract
There is a growing awareness that fibrositis/fibromyalgia syndrome is a systemic disorder for which a pathogenic mechanism must be sought. A generalized deficiency of the neurotransmitter, serotonin could explain many of fibromyalgia's typical manifestations. The serotonin deficiency hypothesis is appealing because it provides a number of experimental approaches that can now be used to further study the pathogenesis of this disorder.Entities:
