Abstract
BACKGROUND: Crop species are of increasing interest both for cattle feeding and for bioethanol production. The degradability of the plant material largely depends on the lignification of the tissues, but it also depends on histological features such as the cellular morphology or the relative amount of each tissue fraction. There is therefore a need for high-throughput phenotyping systems that quantify the histology of plant sections.Entities:

The table provides the p values for each fixed effect of the main factors (genotype, water treatment, year), their interactions, and for the random effects of the block and of the stem. p values lower than 0.05, 0.01 and 0.001 are indicated with *, ** and ***, respectively. p values lower than 0.01 are in italic type
