Dear Editor, The report by Mirambo et al. on “Rubella seromarkers among children and adolescent” is very interesting.[1] Mirambo et al. concluded that “The prevalence of specific rubella IgG antibodies in Tanzania is high and is associated with an increase in age, absence of rash, and low SES.[1]” Mirambo et al. also raised an interesting question “Are we in the right track?[1]” Indeed, the success of control of rubella depends on several factors. Screening and vaccination against rubella among the pregnant subject might be an effective approach. Nevertheless, there should be a further assessment on the way to management. There are many possible modes for management such as universal screening plus vaccination and prescreening following by vaccination for necessary cases. For specific method of screening, the best screening technique is still a controversial issue.[2] Furthermore, “who has to pay for the screening and vaccination” has to be further thought. In fact, in some countries, the rubella vaccination might be provided since early childhood aiming at management of the problem.
