Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is a leading cause of chronic kidney disease, prompting the need for monitoring and management of this complex condition in those diagnosed with diabetes. Management is often multifaceted and includes lifestyle modification, management of hyperglycemia, and management of hypertension and hyperlipidemia to slow progression of kidney disease and to mitigate cardiovascular risks associated with diabetes and kidney disease. This article reviews the current literature regarding monitoring and management of diabetic kidney disease and chronic kidney disease in diabetes.Entities:
