The story of Bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis (B.t.i.).

J Margalit1, D Dean.

Abstract

The isolation and the characteristics of Bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis is reviewed. Included in the review are full descriptions of the nomenclature, mosquito target range of this potent mosquitocidal bacterium, as well as the genetics and biochemistry of the toxins.
